Graham Firth
After initially working as a volunteer, for several years Graham was employed as a care-assistant at a large residential hospital for adults with learning disabilities in Leeds. After qualifying as a primary school teacher he initially worked in mainstream schools (Key Stage 1) before moving into adult education for students with severe or profound learning disabilities.
After a period of intense professional reflection, his teaching became more socially inclusive, eventually leading to the development of a curriculum based on Intensive Interaction. In 2003 he gained his present position with Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust, where he now works to support others to adopt, develop and sustain their Intensive Interaction practices. He is also a member of the Trust’s Severe Challenging Behaviour Team.
